JOY IS ONE-THIRDS THE KINGDOM
“For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.” Romans 14:17-18
Now I know that spiritual things aren’t always exactly mathematical, but this is worth considering. The Apostle Paul teaching about the kingdom declares that it is in Righteousness, Peace and Joy in the Holy Ghost.
We are quick to accept that Righteousness and Peace are great forces in the kingdom but someway somehow we consider Joy as just a happy emotion.
It’s far more than that! Joy is a spiritual force upon which our kingdom is built.
Wherever you find Joy, you see the Kingdom manifested.
You see, everything in our world today is designed to drain your joy. Depression and suicide rates are at an all time high like never before.
There’s a concerted effort to steal your joy from you. Work pressures, bad news, gossip etc all work hard at stealing your joy.
Joy isn’t an emotion. It can be manifested through your emotions.
Joy isn’t a feeling. It can be expressed through your feelings.
First things first, throughout the Bible, Joy can only be demonstrated by the believer in Christ Jesus. It was birthed in his spirit at salvation hence why David called it the ‘joy of salvation’.
Just in the same way an unbeliever has no capacity to give the true ‘agape’ love of God so also he has no capacity to demonstrate the joy of the Lord.
You can be joyful without being happy and vice versa.
Don’t forget that happiness is not a fruit of the spirit because it is based on temperaments and circumstances.
Joy however is a decision to respond from your spirit to the revelation of the Word. It’s both a choice and the work of the Spirit in your heart.
Irrespective of where you are or what you’re faced with the decision to choose Joy is the first step to victory.
This rejoicing isn’t a blind, stupid religious outburst. It’s the most potent expression of your faith in Gods Word irrespective of circumstances.
I love the way King David puts it in Psalm 119:162;
“I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil.”
I think The Passion Translation puts its better;
“Your promises are the source of my bubbling joy; the revelation of your word thrills me like one who has discovered hidden treasure.”
If you will rejoice at His Word, your situation will soon change to look like the Word.
Your joy is the first proof of your Faith in the Word.
Don’t forget, Joy is one-thirds the Kingdom! Wherever you see Joy, you see the Kingdom of God in manifestation.
Dear Father, I thank you for giving me such a beautiful, extraordinary, exciting, fulfilling, exceptional and excellent life; a glorious life that radiates joy, excellence and peace received from your word. Irrespective of contrary circumstances, i stay on your word. I give the word of God utmost attention, in Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen.
