YOU CAN BUY WITHOUT MONEY
“Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.” Isaiah 55:1
This text is used many times to teach spiritual hunger and rightly so. There’s something else that becomes evident though, that in the kingdom economy, money is the lowest currency- if it is at all. Isaiah declares that in the kingdom to which we belong, you can buy without money. We have higher currencies to transact with.
Let me show you some examples in the ministry of Jesus. First is the woman with the issue of blood.
“And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,”
The Gospel writers who recorded this story were very careful to include this one bit of information. She had spent all she had trying to get healed but she only grew worse. Luke in his Gospel says, that she had spent all her living.
Without going into the details of the story, she got helped without spending a dime. She only spent her Faith!
What she was trying to pay for, she could get for free by spending a higher currency.
On another occasion, Jesus had taught the multitudes for three long days and now they were hungry. Jesus turned to his disciples asking them how they could feed the crowd. That was an impossible question because of the sheer size of the crowd, there was practically no where they could buy enough food and worse off, they didn’t have enough money to buy as much as was needed.
But in all this, John tells us that “this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.” (John 6:6). Jesus asked them those questions not because he needed money to feed them. I believe He asked to show you and I the limitations of money.
He knew what He would do and that did not include money! He was going to buy enough bread to feed the multitudes without spending a dime of money. All He would spend was His Faith!
You see Faith is a currency and it has greater value than every currency in the world. With our faith we can buy, we can build and we can own!
Train yourself not to think money first when thinking of your projects or your needs. God can get it sorted without a dime from your pocket.
Faith is a currency and it comes by hearing… hearing the word of God. The ‘richer’ you want to be, the more attention you must pay to the Word of God. We mine Faith currency from the scriptures.
Dear Holy Spirit, i Thank you for words so precious that has come to me today. I recognise the place of Faith in the life of a believer and i put my Faith to work by spending it in place of spending money. I put my Faith to work at all times because by it, i win and gain the victory at all times even in seemingly impossible situations. As i pay attention to the Word of God daily, i spend Faith as a currency with reckless abandon to achieve all i need to achieve. In Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen.
