WORRY, THE MOST USELESS HUMAN ACTIVITY
“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” 1 Peter 5:7
I remember as a teenager reading a story that has stayed with me ever since.
It was the story of a young girl who had a toy she loved so much. As is usually the case with toys, it got damaged. She cried and tried all she could to fix it but alas it was broken beyond repairs. Or so she thought.
When her dad got back she ran to him with her broken toy, crying and pleasing that he helped her fix it.
Daddy took the toy and began to fix it. In just a few minutes, the girl collected it back trying frantically to fix it herself thinking daddy was too slow. In frustration she handed it back to daddy. This ‘give and collect and give back’ scenario played for a while till she cried out ‘Daddy you’re not fixing my toy. You’re too slow’. Daddy smiled lovingly and said ‘You never really gave it to me to fix.’
Too many Christians are like that little girl. We give the Lord our broken lives, broken marriages, broken dreams to fix but then He seems too slow and we collect it back to fix ourselves. Until clearly we know we can’t help ourselves.
The scriptures are very clear on one fact, you have to commit it all to the Lord and leave it there if you want Him to fix it.
You can’t give it to Him and still be worrying about it. No!
The Apostle Peter says to cast your cares unto the Lord knowing that He cares for you! If He cares for you, there’s no need carrying the care for your life too.
I actually love the way the Amplified Version puts it;
“casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].”
1 Peter 5:7
Cast your cares, your worries, your concerns once and for all on Him. Don’t pick them up again in your thought life. Leave them with the master. He will fix things.
The second part of the text is such a blessing. It says that the Lord cares for you with the deepest affection possible and watches over you carefully.
Worry is the most useless thing you’ve ever done. It never accomplished anything. It only worsens matters, beclouding you from making right decisions.
Cast your cares today!
I refuse to worry in life; rather, i cast all my cares upon Him who is able to help and fix my life just the way He wants it to be. I declare that no matter the challenge, no matter the issue, no matter how damaged it may seem, i learn to hand it over to the Lord in full acknowledgement that He is able to take care of all that concerns me. Thank You Dear Heavenly Father, In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
