WHO ARE YOU: A WHISPERING GOSSIP OR AN INTERCESSOR?
“Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.” Proverbs 26:20
Very few people understand the havoc and evil wreaked by tale bearing which is simply a beautiful word for gossiping!
Satan need not fight when he has talebearers for they are worse than demons. They are satan’s recruits.
Tale bearers are what you call the fifth column; insiders who open the door of attack to the enemy.
Let’s establish that when you see strife and offense growing unabated, there are tale bearers in the mix. Satan is all about destruction and he uses gossip to do this.
Gossip is a conversation between two or more persons who have no authority or right to effect a change in the matter at hand.
If your conversation doesn’t lead you both/all to pray for the same length of time you were discussing the matter or even more and with the same passion it was discussed, then it is gossip. Also, you both/all must pray together corporately because the discussion was done together.
King Solomon was the wisest man of his day so he very well understood how communities and societies work.
Look what he said in Proverbs 11:13,
“A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.”
There are too many who can’t conceal a matter. They just must tell it. A faithful man keeps it within. Very few can keep secrets. This is one of the challenges with the church today.
Let me show you a few scriptures about tale bearing from The Passion Translation. They need no commentaries;
“Gossip is so delicious, and how we love to swallow it! For slander is easily absorbed into our innermost being.”
“A blabbermouth will reveal your secrets, so stay away from people who can’t keep their mouths shut.”
“A twisted person spreads rumors; a whispering gossip ruins good friendships.”
Here’s what I have realized, you are either a whispering gossip or an intercessor. You can’t be both!
It takes the same passion to be both so you have to choose one.
Too many Christians have developed a deadly appetite for gossip. They’ve fed themselves with so much gist and profane talk that their conscience have become seared on this matter.
Don’t go about every gist blog looking for ‘sweet gist’. Be very careful what you read on social media. Many are programming themselves for sure failure without knowing it.
If you have been a tale bearer, it’s time to repent. Ask the Lord for forgiveness and give yourself to intercession now.
Make the quality decision to censor any information that comes to you henceforth. And stick only with things with virtue.
I am an intercessor, choosing to think, speak and pray about things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely and of good report, possessing virtue and praise. I communicate grace to my hearers; words filled and inundated with life. Evil and corrupt communication would not proceed from my lips. Thank you Father, in Jesus’ might name, Amen.
