WE’VE GOT TO TELL THEM
“And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.”
2 Corinthians 5:18-19
This portion of the Bible remains one of my best. Every time I read it, I’m left in awe of the extravagant, indescribable love of God! It beats all our religious reasonings.
Paul opines that God reconciled us to Himself. And as if that isn’t enough, He says he’s reconciled the world too! He’s referring to world of people- the world of sinners. That’s huge!
He says God has reconciled the worst and vilest sinner to Himself. Regardless of what you think about them or what you know of them, God has reconciled them. He’s not holding out their sins against them. No, not at all!
Reconcile as used by the Apostle Paul is a big word. Really big. It’s the Greek Word ‘katallaso’ which means an exchange, to change mutually.
The basic meanings of the word are “to remove enmity between two enemy parties” or “to change thoroughly.” Reconciliation is more than having our sins forgiven and divine justice being satisfied. It means to change something inside out, upside down, and right side up. It refers to a changed relationship between God and the lost world. It is a divine provision by which God’s holy displeasure against alienated sinners is appeased. His hostility against men is removed. A harmonious relationship between the Lord and the saved sinner is established.
Reconciliation is what God has accomplished. We only embrace and receive it.
All religions result from a lack of this revelation. Man tries to reconcile himself to God but we don’t have to. He’s done it! We simply embrace it.
Have we told the world this? God has reconciled them to Himself. He isn’t counting their sins against them. This is what he’s asked us to tell them. He’s given to us the word of reconciliation not the word of judgement.
Tell them God isn’t angry with them. They don’t have to remain in their sins. God has changed the relationship with them. All they have to do is to accept and believe this!
My oh mine! This is huge!
Well one quick one, have you told yourself this? Remind yourself always. God isn’t angry with you. He’s provided a way for you to have a a loving, personal fellowship with Him through His son, Jesus.
I am an ambassador of Christ and have been made the righteousness of God in Him. I take this message of reconciliation to my world with boldness by the Spirit of God, ministering the love of God to those i come in contact with. I am relevant to the establishment of God’s kingdom in the hearts of men, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
