WAGING WAR WITH PROPHECY
“This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;” 1 Timothy 1:18
We are a people of prophecy. I personally think that the blessing of prophecy is one of the most underutilized blessings available to the church. Many believers don’t even know the power and the possibilities available to them because of prophecy.
The first distinction to make is the difference between the office of a prophet and the simple gift of prophecy.
The prophetic office is a definite ministry gift. That office is accompanied by spiritual gifts of revelation and utterance primarily, one of which is the simple gift of prophecy.
This simply gift of prophecy is available to every believer. It’s not the exclusive preserve of some. It is Gods gift to you to chart your course in life.
Prophecy brings exhortation, edification and comfort to the hearer.
This prophecy can be me prophesying to myself in prayer and worship or other Saints bringing such word to me as inspired by the Holy Spirit. The Lord shows and prepares us for the future through prophecy.
However no prophecy is self fulfilling. A good word from the Lord can fall to the ground and not be fulfilled. This is one bit many believers forget or don’t know altogether.
That God said it doesn’t mean it will happen. It takes a man enforcing it for it to happen. This is exactly what Paul was saying to Timothy on our text.
Wage war with prophecy! What becomes of it is your responsibility not Gods.
And simply, we wage war with prophecy through prayer and thanksgiving. Keep the prophecy alive in your consciousness more than the events of your life.
The vision, that word is for an appointed time. Though it tarry it will come to pass.
Thank you Dear Holy Spirit for I have a more sure word of prophecy with which I make war and subdue circumstances. I’m unperturbed by the circumstances of life because I have the secret of keeping afloat; the secret of continually winning, growing always, making progress and never going down, which is by holding on to prophecy. Whatever comes against me, the Word is my confidence and advantage. In Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen.
