THERE’S ALWAYS A WAY OF ESCAPE
“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”1 Corinthians 10:13
This scripture has been one of the greatest blessings to me in my journey through life as a believer.
Whilst the immediate context is referring to temptations to sin, the bigger picture includes situations and circumstances that pressure you to act opposite of the Word of God.
Now, that includes the temptation to worry, to look to other sources for help i.e idolatry.
In fact, the background story from which Paul spinned this message from was when Moses had gone up into the mountain for days without end and Israel became impatient and fearful. So they asked Aaron to build them calves which would represent God to them.
You see they were under pressure. They were in the wilderness where bandits robbed and killed scores of travelers. They feared for their lives. They feared for their future. They acted on their fear.
Paul says by the spirit that there’s no temptation you will ever face that is not common to man. But more importantly, every adversity is custom built in such a way that it comes with a way of escape.
I actually want you to read this text in the Amplified Classic translation. It passes the message clearly.
“For no temptation (no trial regarded as enticing to sin), [no matter how it comes or where it leads] has overtaken you and laid hold on you that is not common to man [that is, no temptation or trial has come to you that is beyond human resistance and that is not adjusted and adapted and belonging to human experience, and such as man can bear]. But God is faithful [to His Word and to His compassionate nature], and He [can be trusted] not to let you be tempted and tried and assayed beyond your ability and strength of resistance and power to endure, but with the temptation He will [always] also provide the way out (the means of escape to a landing place), that you may be capable and strong and powerful to bear up under it patiently.”
First is, no temptation or adversity is beyond you. It’s adapted to human existence and you will never be faced with a situation you cannot handle.
Never forget this, God already put enough in you to withstand, face and conquer any and very adversity that comes your way. This is His Word! It’s no lie. It’s no flattery.
And with the situation comes the way out-the means of escape to a landing place!
Friend, you are equipped for this!
I declare that I am Fully equipped for whatever situation that comes my way, I refuse to cave in to pressure or be dominated by fear. I choose to see God’s perspective in every situation. Now I boldly say, whatever the situation is, there is a means of escape for me at all times. I declare that i am never without help!, In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
