THE GREATEST IS LOVE
“And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.” 1 Corinthians 13:13
I was once in a special healing service with a precious minister of the gospel and he told a story that has stayed with me ever since. It was a story he read from R. W Schambach.
Rev. Schambach was pastoring a church at the time and had prayed without success for two ladies in the congregation. One was a lady who had a goitre the other was seeking to be filled with the Spirit with speaking in tongues as an evidence.
Schambach was amused by his seeming failure at ministering to them. He had recorded astounding results with much worse cases and so he couldn’t understand what the issue was here.
One day while ministering on stage, he noticed the two women walk into the service. One of them was directed to a seat by the usher and as the other came behind the usher directed her to seat beside the other woman. She refused adamantly.
Immediately he knew what the problem was. Strife! He jumped down the stage and walked towards both ladies and insisted that they bury the hatchet and give each other a loving hug.
As both women hugged with tears down their eyes, one burst out in tongues and the goiter disappeared from the other woman. No prayer! Just love.
Love is the greatest. It will accomplish for you faster and easier what Faith and Hope will.
Many Christians think love is weak. They think it’s for babies.
God is called the God of Hope. He is a Faith God but He is Love.
He doesn’t have love. Love is the character of God.
It’s impossible to truly encounter this God who is Love and yet hate or dislike anyone.
Today release everyone who may have hurt you or treated you unfairly. Therein is your victory.
You may ask how? You say ‘it’s tough to let go’. I know and I understand.
Here’s what Jesus says to do;
“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;”
Forgiveness starts in prayer. Pray and bless those who hurt you. It’s in prayer that we truly release them.
Ensure that you have no one you dislike or get irritated at the thought or sight of them.
Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for your love which is shed abroad in my heart by the Holy Ghost. I choose to walk in love today and always with everyone in my world. I choose to forgive anyone who may have hurt me in the past and I let go of the feelings of being hurt. In Jesus mighty name, Amen.
