THE GIFT OF HUNGER
“And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” Revelation 22:17
The message is simple! It is ‘Come’. Note that it says he that ‘heareth’. It’s a present, continuous hearing. Not heard!
That’s the call of the Spirit. That’s the call of the Bride. They say Come.
It speaks to our spiritual hunger and thirst. This speaks to us remaining hungry.
Many start out hungry and truly desirous of spiritual things but after a while get carried away with a little success or the demands of life.
Hunger and thirst are natural human instincts that shows we are alive and healthy. In fact, one of the first things affected in sickness is your appetite. Your appetite is usually an indicator of your health. It’s much the same in the things of God.
Your spiritual appetite is a clear indicator of the state of your spiritual health.
No man is greater than his hunger. If you seem to have lost your hunger, then set a time to pray and fast to seek Gods face. You see, hunger is a work of the Spirit. As much as we desire to be hungry, we can only be hungry to the measure that He helps us.
It’s a dangerous place to be. God wants us panting after Him, desirous of more.
As such, cry out to Him to help you. Ask for the gift of Hunger.
Him that God wants to use, He gifts with Hunger.
It’s however your job to protect and grow your hunger. What you focus on determines what will grow in your life.
Keep your life and space filled with materials that keeps you hungry. Read and meditate on the supernatural works of Jesus and the apostles. Read the history of Gods men and their exploits over the ages.
Hunger is a gift. Protect it. Preserve it. Grow it.
Make up your mind never to take spiritual things casually. This is where many miss it. Receive the Word with all sense of honor. When you see a miracle, no matter how little and no matter how many you’ve seen, rejoice as though it’s your first. Celebrate the Hand of God always.
This is how to stay Hungry!
Remember, Hunger is a gift. But you have the responsibility of unwrapping it.
Dear Father, I thank you for the precious gift of the Holy Spirit who dwells in me. I consciously grow my appetite for the things of the spirit by continually paying attention to the word of God, prayer, fasting and surrounding myself with spiritual materials. I’m forever refreshed through the Spirit, for out of my belly flow gushers of living water, to give life and sustenance to everything about me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
