THE END IS NIGH
“But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.” 1 Peter 4:7
I believe that the best way to live in the now is to keep sights on eternity. The consciousness of a coming eternity changes our outlook to this present life. If all there is to us is this present world, then we can live as we choose. And by live as we choose, I’m not just referring to issues of sin and morality. I’m referring to Gods specific plans and purposes for our lives.
The reason is this, ultimately your eternity is a reflection of how well and how faithfully you followed Gods plans for your life.
The Apostle Peter wrote this epistle about two thousand years ago. I can sense the urgency in his words. He declared unequivocally that the end of all things is nigh.
If he lived with that consciousness, we who live at the end of the end times need to live more with that consciousness.
Unfortunately the world is so unaware of this. In fact Jesus describes the world at the time of his return as very similar to the days of Noah when the rains were at hand.
Jesus declared in Matthew 24:37-39,
“But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”
I don’t think there’s a better picture of our world today than this!
But the believer is admonished not to like unaware of the days and times.
We are admonished to be sober and to watch in prayer.
To be sober as used here refers to being of a sound mind. The idea is to process all that happens in life today through the lens of the coming tomorrow. Don’t get carried away with media propaganda and campaigns. Don’t get carried away by philosophies and ideologies of this world being sold as logical and beneficial.
Remain rooted in the Word. You must have a biblical worldview.
Secondly he admonished to be prayerful. Deception is Satans number one tool in the end time. And the only antidote to deception is truth that comes from fellowshipping with God through prayer.
Be sober and watch unto prayer. That’s how to live in the times of the end.
Dear Father, Thank You for my eyes are fixed on things which are above. I stand upon my watch tower rooted in your Word and praying without ceasing. My mind is sound, fixed on the urgency of your coming. In Jesus Name. Amen
