SUBMIT TO GOD’S RIGHTEOUSNESS
“For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.” Romans 10:2-3
The subject of righteousness is one of the least understood in the body of Christ, yet, it is possibly the most foundational.
In fact, true spiritual maturity is impossible without a personal and working revelation of the subject. The Apostle Paul makes this expressly clear in Hebrews 5:13;
“For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.”
And because it’s not well taught for the most part, it can a very divisive subject as different denominations seem to have their own opinions. But the word is very clear on it.
There are two kinds of Righteousness shown us in the scriptures; the Righteousness of the Law and the Righteousness of God.
“But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:”
Man seeks to be righteous by doing righteous. He seeks to gain Gods approval and meet up with Gods standard of Righteousness by trying to keep the demands of the law. Unfortunately as much as he tries, he can never match up with Gods standard.
This is the Righteousness of the law. It’s a Pseudo Righteousness.
This is what the Apostle Paul was explaining in our text. Rather than accepting and submitting to Gods own righteousness, men try to establish their own righteousness.
But there’s a Righteousness without the law. It’s a Righteousness without works. It’s Gods very own Righteousness. And this is what God grants the believer at salvation.
In essence, God is righteous and this righteous nature of His that makes Him God is gifted the sinner when he acknowledges Jesus as Lord. We thus become not by what we have done but by what we have received.
Out of misplaced zeal, like Israel of Paul’s days many believers scamper around trying to be righteous. Whereas all they need do is simply to submit and surrender themselves to the righteousness they have received.
Do you believe today that you have Gods very own righteousness?
Do you believe that you have become as righteous as God is?
Do you believe that this Righteousness is your present Hour reality and you don’t need to qualify for it?
It’s time to submit to the Righteousness of God!
Thank you Dear Heavenly Father for the righteousness of God that has been imparted to my spirit. Therefore, I have the ability to do right, and live joyfully without blame before the Father, for His righteousness in me gives me right standing with Him. I accept and submit to your righteousness today and always, in Jesus’ precious name, Amen!
