STOP THE BLAME GAME. IT’S YOUR LIFE!
“When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.” John 5:6-8
The blame game is as old as the Garden of Eden. I believe it was the first game invented by man and it’s amusing how it’s played so effortlessly and proficiently by everyone!
After man ate of the fruit he was instructed not to eat of, man died spiritually and became alienated from God.
When God visited him in the Garden, it was apparent that something was wrong. He began to interrogate him. Adam deflected all the blame and put the responsibility for their disobedience on Eve. Eve followed his lead and deflected to the serpent. Well if there’s anything to give the serpent qudos for, he didn’t join in their shameful Blame Game charade.
Thousands of years after, the Lord Jesus walks to a man by a pool who obviously needed healing. He asked a very simple question. Do you want to be whole? One would expect that he’d jump at the opportunity. Instead he begins to give reasons why he has remained in that condition for that long. The very same reason people remain in the same terrible state for so long- even when they are loving believers.
First was, ‘I have no man’.
He was apparently disappointed and possibly bitter that no one stood by him to help him. He considered change an impossibility as long as he had no man.
Second was ‘someone gets it before me’.
Because of the peculiar nature of that pool, he believed that someone else being blessed or getting ahead meant he was to remain in his condition. Oh, the envy and jealousy that must have filled his heart.
As is the case with the Lord, he didn’t answer any of those excuses! Instead he said to the man, ‘Rise, take up your bed, and walk!’
Your excuses are never as important as you taking responsibility.
What you blame another for, you loose authority to change. Blaming another for your condition is giving the right and authority to change that situation to that person.
No man is the reason for your predicament. Even if you have no one, you have the Lord!
You are responsible for your life.
Friend, are you more concerned about justifying your feeling of neglect, betrayal and helplessness or getting a change?
Renew your mind today. No one owes you anything. And the success of another doesn’t reduce the chances of yours. Rejoice for them.
Today, I speak to that man within and I charge you to ‘Rise up, take up your bed… And Walk!’
Thank you dear Holy Spirit for my mind is renewed by the word of God daily. I take the position of the word of God over any challenge, sickness, situation or limiting circumstances. I refuse to cower or bring myself to the position of any challenge, instead, i ride on the wings of God’s word and declare my victory over every situation and circumstance. I remove blame or excuses from my vocabulary and take on the “I can do” mentality, In Jesus’ mighty Name, Amen.
