PROMPT OBEDIENCE IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS
“And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.” Genesis 22:2-3
Many have tried to rewrite this part of the Bible. Many more have secretly wished it wasn’t part of the canon of scripture.
But it’s there!
God demanded that Abraham sacrifice his only son Isaac.
Don’t forget, that this was a child he had prayed and stood in faith for, for well over two decades. Finally, he gets his desire and God demands it.
There are many people, including preachers who pride themselves in the fact that they argue with the Lord when He makes demands of them. I know what they are trying to do. I know they are trying to act human so people can feel comfortable with them and not see them as super humans. But you see, they miss a big point.
We have to train ourselves like Abraham to respond aright to divine instructions. Not only did Abraham obey God, irrespective of how difficult it may have been , he obeyed God immediately! He obeyed God promptly. No questions asked. No negotiations. No arguments.
If the Lord asked for his wealth or his house, maybe his attitude was understandable but his only son and yet he responded this way!
What the Angel of the Lord said to him was quite instructive;
“And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.”
Is it that God didn’t know that he feared Him before? Well, how we respond to the Word and Gods instructions is the true measure of our reverence and fear for Him.
The Lord said to me many years ago, that prompt obedience is the key to walking in His Grace and becoming successful. When you delay on obeying Him, the instructions drain of virtue. As such, even though you still obey the instruction, you don’t get the maximum virtue and grace from it.
God instructed Abraham at night. By morning He had gathered all that he needed and he immediately swung into action. No negotiations. No asking questions. No delays. Immediately!
Many wonder why they don’t see the great things of God. Well here’s your answer. It takes prompt obedience to divine instructions.
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for i act promptly and pay attention to your instructions to me daily. I thank you for you have called me obedient and you’ve given me the ability to be same. I declare that pride, stubbornness, and rebellion are not a part of me. I walk in obedience to your Word and to the spiritual instructions I receive, and I enjoy the blessing and benefits thereof, in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
