PARTNERSHIP WITH YOUR PROPHET
“For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;” Philippians 1:5
Gods plan for the church is very simple but unfortunately has been complicated by many. Instead of a celebrity, super-star leader with a throng of followers dependent on him, God designed the church to function as a partnership.
In essence, it’s a partnership between a servant of God who has received a vision from God and a people who believe they are called to run alongside him.
You see, God didn’t design us to be liabilities; always seeking for the next miracle. He will meet our needs and work miracles in our lives but it’s to the end that we may take up the responsibilities of His kingdom.
That’s exactly the difference between the Philippian church and every other church that Paul planted. They understood that they had a responsibility of partnership with the Apostle Paul. Even after Paul had left their city on mission to other cities, they partnered with Paul financially and in prayers to help him reach these other cities.
In fact, Paul wrote this letter to them from prison with his legs in bounds and fetters. Many of the other churches and saints had withdrawn from him for fear of the authorities who were anti-gospel. Many more withdrew for shame of associating with a man who was in prison. Literally, he was seen as a criminal element.
But not the Philippians. In fact, when everyone else withdrew they increased their commitment to the Apostle Paul.
These weren’t just church members, they were ministry partners with Him.
In turn, I want you to see some of the statements Paul made concerning them ;
“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,”
His every remembrance of them was with thanksgiving. His heart was filled with gratitude to have been blessed with these kind of people. He prayed for them always in every prayer of his with all joy!
This is the blessing of partnership. The same grace that was at work on the life of the Apostle Paul to cause advancements in the ministry became available to the Philippian brethren for their personal lives through
Dear Father, i thank you for the wonderful opportunity I have to partner with the prophet you have sent into my life by giving of my time and resources into the spread of your work around the world. I am a faithful and committed partner who is prompt to do it and is totally sold out to the propagation of the work of the Lord on this earth, in Jesus’ Name.
