JEHOVAH EL GEMUWAL; THE GOD OF RECOMPENSES
“Because the spoiler is come upon her, even upon Babylon, and her mighty men are taken, every one of their bows is broken: for the LORD God of recompences shall surely requite.”
Of all the names and revelations of God in the Old Testament, I believe the most obscure and least known is this, Jehovah El Gemuwal.
And that’s a problem because Faith only begins where the will of God is known.
All over the world today, many have received healings and can believe for healings because they are persuaded that God is a healer. But few know him as the God who recompenses. In fact, the Hebrew describes Him as a God who has plenty recompenses to give.
Recompense is a step beyond restoration. Recompense is a judicial act of God. It’s much more than just mercy. You see in Gods mercy, He restores what may have been lost but recompense is the justice of God bringing balance to the events of your life.
The word recompense is from a complex Hebrew word that means to pay a compensation for loss or harm incurred.
As such beyond just restoring what was lost, God compensates you for every lost opportunity, lost honor… pretty much all you can think of. I personally think this is really huge.
The believer needs to begin to believe for this! In fact once you understand this like Joseph you know that God will recompense you for all you’ve been through.
Restoration for Joseph would simply have been to be reconnected to his family safely but God recompensed him. He had a revelation of this little wonder. He never got offended at his brothers or anyone else.
God is a just God. He weighs the scales. Wherever you have been ‘cheated’, God makes it up by himself.
Jacob too was recompensed. Imagine how Laban treated him, changing his wages ten times. This was meant to be his father in law!
If all he got was restoration, then at best he would have gotten his wage difference in bulk. That would still have been nice but God does much more. He recompensed him.
He gave Jacob all of Laban’s wealth in one night! Now that’s Recompense!
Too many Christians are busy being all up in their emotions, fighting their own battles and not giving God the chance to recompense them.
Paul knew the Lord God of recompenses and he gave us a simple guide on how to receive our Recompense from the Lord.
“Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.”
I Thank You Father for You are the God of all recompense; I thank You for You do much more than restore, you recompense for all that is lost and seemingly wasted. I refuse to fight my own battles as I hand it over to God for recompense. In Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen.
