IN THE VOLUME OF THE BOOKS IT IS WRITTEN OF YOU
“Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.” Hebrews 10:7
The Bible isn’t just a historical compendium; its more than a great work of literature.
I always say, ‘the Bible is God fossilized in print’.
One of the most interesting things about the scriptures is its Prophetic nature.
Whilst we are blessed and edified by the revelation knowledge that comes from the Word, the scriptures are given to us for much more than that.
The Bible is a prophetic book. By nature, the prophetic deals with the three realms of time; past, present and future. In essence, a prophetic scripture can have immediate meaning in the context it was spoken and also have a futuristic implication.
For example, many of the messianic scriptures had some immediate fulfillment yet they pointed to the coming Christ. In some of such Psalms, David described his immediate conditions but if you read carefully you see that he prophetically pointed to the expected Messiah.
At the beginning of his ministry, Luke records this;
“And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,” (Luke 4:16-17).
He searched and found what was written about him in the scrolls of Isaiah. He made no assumptions. His ministry was described succinctly in Isaiah’s writings.
Note that he had to find it. This requires a search. It’s not a casual flipping of the pages.
Your life is hidden in the books. The very details, steps and directions of your life are coded on the pages of the Bible.
Once I was praying about certain major decisions I had to take. While studying the word, I saw God’s instruction to Joshua to arise and take the people and cross the Jordan.
I immediately had my answer. I had been contemplating if we were to branch out our church at the time or move the entire ministry to the other side of town. Interestingly, the city was divided into two by the ocean that had a huge bridge across it. I immediately knew that was the Jordan and I was to cross with all the people!
You don’t have to live life by assumptions. Your life is coded in the Word. Find what and where it is written of you in the volume of the book.
I refuse to live my life based on assumptions. My life has clarity, clarity given and expressed by the word of God . I am filled with light and illumination because i know what is written of me in the bible. My life and true sense of worth is determined by the word of God and as i search the scriptures, i begin to see clearly, all that God demands of me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
