HAVE YOU GOT YOUR TICKETS?
“Everything that goes into a life of pleasing God has been miraculously given to us by getting to know, personally and intimately, the One who invited us to God. The best invitation we ever received! We were also given absolutely terrific promises to pass on to you—your tickets to participation in the life of God after you turned your back on a world corrupted by lust.” 2 Peter 1:3-4 MSG
I remember vaguely an experience my wife and I had many years ago. We were just a young couple who were finding ways of bonding together. And one of the things we enjoyed doing together was seeing a movie in the cinema house.
Cinemas had just been introduced into the country so this was sort of a big deal then. It was new way for families, friends and couples to relax and bond.
We purchased our tickets from the counter and left to get our Pop Corn. On getting to the theatre door, we discovered that we weren’t given the exact number of tickets we paid for.
The door attendant asked “have you got your tickets? Can I have them?”
We were in the cinema house but without the tickets we weren’t going to enjoy and experience the essence of the cinema house which was to see a movie.
No matter how much the door attendant liked and believed us, we had to go back and sort out the ticket issue before being permitted in.
This is the very same with many believers today. They are redeemed and saved fully well. They are part of Gods family and have been translated into the kingdom of His Son.
Every believer has the very life of God resident in him Now! Not later.
But it doesn’t take too long to see that there’s a world of difference between what the Bible says of them and what their experiences are.
Here’s the thing, just in the same way we were in the cinema house but couldn’t participate in the experience so are many believers.
Our tickets to participate are the exceeding and great promises of the scriptures.
The word ‘participate’ puts the job squarely on our shoulders. It connotes ability and responsibility. The fact that you are now saved doesn’t mean that much will change instantaneously in your life.
God has invited us to participate in the divine life. We are participators not spectators.
And your entry ticket are the promises of the Word.
We can participate in healing. In prosperity. In divine health.
We can find the promises of the Word along these lines and participate in working out their manifestations in our lives.
We can make visible the life within by our participation.
But the big question is, “have you got your tickets?”
I thank you dear heavenly Father for all that you have made available to me as a Child of God. I thank you for the spiritual realities that you have availed to me in the word of God. Today and always, I work out the manifestations of your provisions for me, by actively participating in the God life, using the word of God as a guide and as a road map. Thank you dear Holy Spirit, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
