GODS WORD IS PERFECT LAW
“But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.” James 1:25
In our text today, the Apostle James calls Gods word the Perfect Law of Liberty. That statement give us a glimpse into the character and nature of the Word of God.
First is that the Word of God is Law. It’s not a probability, an hypothesis or just Gods opinion on issues. Its Law!
You see, the fact that it’s Law indicates that it’s binding and unchanging. It shows no favouritism once the conditions are met. The law of gravity will work on you whether you are an African or you’re an Asian. That’s why the scripture declares in Acts 10:34 that “Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:”
Whatever we read of in scriptures is available to us today because the Word of God is a law.
Laws make life predictable and results reproducible. We don’t have to grope through life wondering what the mind of God is concerning any situation and hoping that we can catch God in His best mood to help us out! You know there are many Christians whop think God has moods and so when we praise Him, we ‘bribe’ Him to act right us. So unfortunate!
You see, God is only moved by His word. Faith in His Word alone.
Now to strengthen the thought in our hearts, the Apostle then adds that this Law is perfect. You know sometimes people say there are exceptions to every Law trying to show that no law is absolute. But you see, Gods Word is absolute. It’s perfect. This Law of God is absolute. It never fails.
The Greek word James used here is the word ‘teleois’ which means complete and total. The idea is what David communicated in Psalms 12:6, “The words of the LORD are pure words:
as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.”
Gods word is tested and tried and it has never failed. Not once. It won’t start with you.
Gods word is perfect law! You can bank on it. You can stake your everything on it. It always works.
If you find In scriptures that “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.” then you can be rest assured that the Lord is your shepherd and you will not want.
Let the scriptures be the only say in your life from henceforth.
