FULFILLING YOUR MINISTRY
“And say to Archippus, take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfil it.” Colossians 4 vs 17
Archippus was not necessarily a pastor or an apostle in the way and manner Paul was, still he had a ministry to take heed to. He was not instructed to succeed but to fulfill the ministry received.
Before much more is said, first understand that “success in ministry” is a demonic term. It should be obliterated from your thinking.
I understand the way and manner in which It is used by people, but God never called us to be “successful in ministry”. You would never find that term in the bible. From Genesis to Revelation.
What then becomes the yardstick for success in ministry? How do you quantify it? Is it by the size of the church one can build? Then the fellow with a small church begins to think to himself that he is not successful in Ministry.
There is a difference between fulfilling your ministry and succeeding in ministry. What God called us to do is to fulfill our ministry.
Fulfilling your ministry is per time; per season. There are things He wants you to do per time. Once you buy into the “success in ministry” mindset, comparison and competition becomes the norm. There is no way you can pray and desire success in ministry without being competitive. It is impossible.
So here is the answer. In Hebrews, what are we instructed to do?
“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.” (Hebrews 12 vs 1)
It says to run with patience, the race that is set before us. There is a unique race ahead of us. And let me say this to you and never forget it, “You can only begin to fulfill your ministry when your eyes single on your ministry.” Then and only then can you only begin to fulfill it.
Thank You Father for I am focused on my part in Ministry. In this season, I lay hold of what you want me to do. I take heed to that which I have received from you and I am fully given to fulfilling it. In Jesus Name. Amen
