FIGHT FROM THE HEAVENS
“The kings came and fought, then fought the kings of Canaan in Taanach by the waters of Megiddo;they took no gain of money. They fought from heaven; the stars in their courses fought against Sisera.”Judges 5:19-20
In Judges 4, we have a beautiful story told of Gods mighty deliverance for Israel. These were the days of the Judges. Israel had no king and so God raised judges at different times in their history, usually in response to their cries for deliverance.
As a nation, they’d usually turn against God in sin and idolatry. In consequence, different enemy nations would come and take them captive. After much oppression, they’d remember God and take to Him in prayers.
At this point in Israel’s history, Jabin King of Canaan, had oppressed Israel for about twenty years. Talk of an oppressive rule!
He had one of the best armies led by a valiant captain called Siseria.
The only hope for Israel was God. At this time, God had raised Deborah a prophetess to judge Israel. She sent for Barak, the captain of Israel’s host and told him that it was the day of victory but it won’t be accomplished by a man, but a woman.
Well, cutting a long story short, Israel discomfited the Canaanites putting Sisera to flight. Sisera sees a long time friend who asks him to come in to rest a bit. She deceives him and eventually kills him.
You see, the account i just summarized is the history we read in the word. To the man of the flesh that’s all that happened. But in our text for the day, we see something interesting.
While Barak fought against Sisera and Jael eventually killed him, it is recorded that the real fight was in the heavenlies.
We should never forget, history is written on the knees of intercessors.
What are you faced with today? Fight from the heavens.
Close your door. Pull out your prophecies and lift up the Word in prayer knowing that it’s in prayer we write the histories of our lives and the world at large.
Thank you Lord Jesus for giving to me the keys of the kingdom of heaven. Whatsoever I bind on earth is bound in heaven. Whatsoever I loose on earth is loosed in heaven. I am conscious of the ministering angels that are with me, ever ready to do my bidding. Therefore, all the elements of this world respond to me as I take charge in the place of prayer. In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
