DO THE LOVE TEST
“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love [for others growing out of God’s love for me], then I have become only a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal [just an annoying distraction].”
1 Corinthians 13:1 NIV, AMP
We all know that one person who says he/she is a Christian but no one really wants to be around them simply because of their attitude. Or you’ve seen or heard someone you look up to or know to be a ‘good Christian’ do or say certain things that just didn’t sound right, and you wonder why are they like this? what’s the missing link?
The truth is when we give our hearts to Christ, there are certain things that should come natural to us if we truly yield ourselves to the Spirit of God and one of such walking in Love.
Love is the nature of God and that nature is imparted into our spirits the moment we say yes to the Lord.
Romans 5:5 says
“And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”
We have the ability to love just as God loves! Human love is fickle, selfish, unkind but God’s love is enduring, selfless. As a believer we ought to show forth the love and character of Jesus everywhere we go every single time. I know it could sound hard or impossible but I want you to always remember Romans 5:5 “God’s love has been shed abroad lavishly in our hearts.” There’s no situation too hard for you to show forth God’s love, not one!
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 shows us what this God kind of love looks like. As you read, I want you to imagine what the world, your family, marriage, place of work, would look like if everyone walked in Love.
“Love endures with patience and serenity, love is kind and thoughtful, and is not jealous or envious; love does not brag and is not proud or arrogant.
It is not rude; it is not self-seeking, it is not provoked [nor overly sensitive and easily angered]; it does not take into account a wrong endured.
It does not rejoice at injustice, but rejoices with the truth [when right and truth prevail]. Love bears all things [regardless of what comes], believes all things [looking for the best in each one], hopes all things [remaining steadfast during difficult times], endures all things [without weakening]. AMP”
Today I want you to do the love test, go through 1 Corinthians 13 in different versions and ask yourself, am I walking in love?
Dear Father, I thank you for granting me revelation knowledge of the dimensions of your love; the breadth, and length, and depth, and height, thereby filling me with your fullness. I’m rooted and grounded in love, and my heart overflows with the love of Christ. I manifest and radiate your love to my world today and always, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
