CONFESSION IS POSSESSION
“For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.” Mark 11:23
In the Old Testament, God promised Israel that they could possess wheresoever the soles of their feet trod but in the New Testament, you have what you say.
For them, threading was possession but for us Confession is Possession.
I remember the story told by a very dear elderly minister of their earlier days in ministry. The church had sighted a lovely large expanse of land that they wanted to purchase and develop into a mini-church village.
This pastor decided to go and thread upon the land to possess it. He took his elders and associates along and they began a twenty-one-day march round the land. In his words, he said one of those days while they were still marching round the property, the owners came and asked them to leave.
What they didn’t know was that as they were marching round some other organisation had come to pay cash for it. So practically their presence was illegal.
While its a funny and sober story at the same time, we must learn to rightly divide the word. We aren’t told to go around marching. We are told to go around confessing!
You can have what you say. And you will have what you say.
Jesus gave us the principle to do the impossible… Always!
Speak to the mountain He says. Many Christians are talking to God about their mountains. In fact, we have many songs that make it seem like the best thing to do. Tell God your problems they say. But Jesus says that your Father already knows you have need of them. Prayer is not a briefing session where you bring God up to speed with your woes. No!
Jesus says to speak to the mountain and he makes it clear who can do this- whosoever! Not the pastor alone or the bishop. It’s an whosoever thing. I believe that’s so all-encompassing that you can’t excuse yourself from it.
We posses what is ours by saying with our mouth what we believe and we keep saying it irrespective of what we are faced with. Regardless of the realities around us, we keep our confession of faith.
Now I’m not just talking about some mind science of positive confessions. I’m talking about putting God’s word concerning the situation on your lips.
Confession is Possession for you can have whatsoever you say.
My conversation is without covetousness as i am content with what the Lord has done and is doing in my life. For the Lord has said, he will never leave me nor forsake me, so that i may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and i would not fear what man shall do unto me. I am confident in the power of His might today and always, In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
