CO-CREATORS LIKE GOD
“Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.”Ephesians 5:1-2 NASB
What will you have to consider yourself truly wealthy? How much money, savings or assets will you consider to be significant wealth for you?
Once in my study the Lord said to me, “your true wealth is in your words. No man is truly bankrupt who has words.”
There was something so revolutionary that He showed me that day. Bible theologians tell us, and rightly so, that one of the ways to study a subject matter is to look at the way it was used for the first time in the scriptures. It’s called the law of first reference or the law of first mention as some others call it. The reasoning behind this is that the Bible’s first mention of a subject is the simplest and clearest presentation which can form foundation to build on.
For example, the first mention of blood in scriptures is in Genesis 4:10 when Abel’s blood cries out from the ground. We safely conclude that blood equals life. As such when we say that Jesus presented his blood in the heavenlies, we can’t assume that he was carrying a calabash of blood like an African voodoo priest. No! He presented His sinless, spotless life for blood equals life.
Back to what the Lord said to me. The first use of words in scriptures was to create not communicate.
In Genesis 1, God was shown to be speaking but the essence was to create. It was not until verse 26, that He used His words in communication when He said “Let us make man…”
The primary use of your words is to create not communicate. We have it all twisted backwards. We think words are to communicate. Not so!
Man is God’s only creation on earth that is given the ability to use words. It is a fruit of the image of God we are created in.
Paul admonishes us to be imitators of God as dear children. The Old King James uses the word ‘followers’ but imitators conveys the idea much better.
Imitate God today. Become very intentional with your words. You are a co-creator with God. You can’t joke and say ‘that tickles me to death’. Don’t say what you don’t believe and don’t want to happen all in the name of jesting and then the next second you’re making faith confessions. You only leave your spirit confused!
Clean up your vocabulary today. Therein lies your wealth.
Dear heavenly father, I thank you for making me realise the essence of words. I choose to imitate you by primarily using my words to create the future that you’ve pre-ordained for me to have. I declare and affirm that my words are edifying, they are full of creative abilities as I speak into existence, the reality of your words. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
