“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” Colossians 3:1-2

Our redemption is far more than a religious experience. It’s a very spiritual event that has tremendous implications for our daily life and living.

Jesus died and was raised as our perfect ransom. He paid the complete price and judgement for our sins, redeeming us eternally from its power and influence.

Sin, Sickness and Satan have no more claims to and over you because of the sacrifice of Jesus. That’s the new life we have available to us in Christ.

When He died, you died. When He was buried, you were buried. When He resurrected, you resurrected. When He ascended, you ascended. When He sat down, you sat down!

You are perfectly identified with Christ.

Now truth is, it’s so easy to continue our lives as though none of these happened because at the New Birth your hair didn’t change color nor did you look different. It’s still the same old you outside but you’re radically different within!

If redemption will change our lives, then we must live with the consciousness of what He did for us. This is why good teaching is important. It’s key that you are well taught the Gospel. It is the understanding and consciousness of the Gospel that changes our lives.

What you know is good, but what changes you is what you’re conscious of.

Paul is admonishing you and I, live with the consciousness that you are risen with Christ and seated with him in a position of absolute authority. He wants you to see yourself in that light!

In addition however, you must train yourself to set your affection on things above. Let your emotions, your feelings and desires be towards things above. You know there are many believers who have their hearts and affection set on things beneath. They love material things and possessions. They want to enjoy this world.

And that’s not a bad thing of itself. However, your affections should be set on things above not on things on the earth.

What gives you more joy, seeing a soul saved or buying a new car?

What makes you more emotional, the beauty of worshipping Jesus or watching a romantic movie?

What makes you scream, an eureka moment in study or a goal scored during a football match?

Your life is simply a reflection of what you’ve set your affections on.

Thank you Dear Father for i live and see from above, because I’m seated with Christ in the place of dominion and power. I am conscious of the redemptive works of Christ and it is my everyday meditation. My affections are set on Him and the glories of His heavenly kingdom, now and always, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
