“Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain:” John 15:16

Jesus was unequivocal about the relationship we have with Him and His Father.

He stated clearly that He is the Vine, we are the branches and the Father is the husbandman. These are clearly functional roles. He supplies the life, we do the bearing of fruits and God, the Father tends the tree.

I remember as a young little boy, meditating on this chapter of the bible, I heard the Lord say to me “I am only as fruitful as you allow me to be and I am as barren as you make me.” Truthfully, those words shook this secondary school boy to his very foundations. It’s been a major truth I’ve built my life on.

God needs me to bear fruits. The husbandman doesn’t bear fruits neither does the trunk bear fruit. Only the branches are designed to do so.

We are the fruit bearing part of Deity. He supplies and sustains us with life that we may bear fruit, primarily the fruit of souls.

The believer isn’t a miracle seeker. We need to reclaim God’s vision for us. We need to rise to His plans for us.

The believer in Christ is chosen and ordained to go forth into his world and bear fruit.

Success is measured by original intent. In essence, the true success stories aren’t necessarily what the world celebrates. We have to go back to the Creator to find out what His original purpose and intent was.

And here’s what I have learnt, whatever that original intent was is still the small intent today.

He intends for us to bear fruits. Make up your mind today to share the life that you have received of the Lord. We do this by preaching the Gospel. The life of God is encapsulated in the message of the Gospel.

Now please note as well that the Lord wants the fruit to remain, in essence to abide. This must mean serious business to him. It’s not enough that we bear fruit but that they must be preserved and remain. This we do primarily by intercession. Paul was working at ensuring his fruits were preserved when he said in Galatians 4:19, “My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,”

The Lord has chosen you and ordained you to bear fruits that will remain. He’s counting on you.

Thank you precious Father for calling me and ordaining to bear fruit that remain. I reach to those around me with the intent of establishing the Kingdom of God in their hearts. I pray that the Spirit of God will work in their hearts as I intercede thereafter so that these precious ones remain in the courts of our God continually, in the Name of Jesus’, Amen!
