BORN OF THE WIND
“Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.”John 3:7-8
One day, Nicodemus a ruler of the Jew must have been under heavy conviction for his sins. He thought to himself, ‘who else could have the answers save the new Rabbi in town?’
So he journeyed down to see Jesus. He waited till it was very late so no one would see him. He was too influential to be seen associating with this no-good prophet.
One of the most interesting conversations in the history of mankind ensued between them both. Jesus began to speak to him about his eternal destiny and Gods plan for our redemption.
This chapter is worth reading and rereading. It’s loaded with gems of revelation.
Jesus describes the New Creation man as being born of the Spirit. He had initially described him as been born of water- The Word.
The Greek Word for Spirit is pneuma which translates as wind. hence the play between Spirit and Wind in this text.
The New Creation is born of the (Spirit) Wind and Jesus gives us the character of the Wind. You can’t hold the wind. You can’t tell where it’s coming from or where it’s going. You only see it’s effects. I love the way it’s rendered in The Message Translation:
“So don’t be so surprised when I tell you that you have to be ‘born from above’—out of this world, so to speak. You know well enough how the wind blows this way and that. You hear it rustling through the trees, but you have no idea where it comes from or where it’s headed next. That’s the way it is with everyone ‘born from above’ by the wind of God, the Spirit of God.”
We must become conscious of our heritage. We are born from above. The believer has a superior heritage- a superior bloodline!
He is born of and by the Wind of God. He is one with the Wind.
You can’t knock the believer down.
You can’t hold him down. You can’t box him up just like you can’t box the wind.
You hit him this way and can’t predict how he’d bounce back.
He’s born to make impact without stress!
This is who you are!
I am a New Creation. I am born from above. I have a superior heritage.
I am born of the Wind; I am one with the Wind. I am unstoppable and cannot be hindered.
I always make progress and impact- and I do so without stress.
