“The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.” Proverbs 12:24
I once heard a minister make a distinction between the Person of Jesus and the Principles of Jesus. It was a revolutionary idea for me.
By reason of our redemption the Lord Jesus has made His home in our hearts. We have the very person of Jesus living and walking with us daily. This is an awesome privilege that we now have. We can fellowship with the Father through Jesus our Lord!
But I noticed an irony. Many who seemed to have a ‘deep’ walk with the Lord didn’t produce commensurate results in the general matters of life. For example, many of them were broke and in lack. Many of them had dysfunctional marriages. On the flip side, it seemed like many unsaved folks had it better.
For the longest time, I couldn’t marry how a man could be so deep yet so without results!
Finally I found the answer. The Person of the master is very different from the principles of the Master.
A man may not know the Lord, but if he practices His principles, He’d still get the results.
As such, there are many unbelievers who understand the power of seed and sacrifice and by practicing it, have amassed wealth; whereas many of God’s children still argue about it.
Diligence is one of the principles of the Master. If you study the life of Jesus, one of the things that will easily impress you was how diligent He was. He was this way right from when he was a youth and that extended into His adult life.
When you study the itinerary and schedule of ministry that Jesus maintained, clearly you know that He was really a hard worker.
Work is a blessing. Diligence is a big deal in the kingdom.
You need to deal decisively with laziness, sleep and procrastination. Many great destinies have been sacrificed on the altar of these three. You can’t afford any of these, space in your life.
Remember that it’s the hand of the diligent that bears rule. It takes diligence to rise to the top. I sincerely believe that The Passion Translation translates the text best;
“If you want to reign in life, don’t sit on your hands. Instead work hard at doing what’s right, for the slacker will end up working to make someone else succeed.”
Give your dreams your best self. Give your goals your best.
Only the diligent hand bears rule.
Dear Father, I thank you for your grace in my life, and the ability to show care, and be diligent in all my duties and responsibilities. I pay attention to details and exude perseverance in transforming God’s vision for my life into reality. I’m full of wisdom, and continually receive thoughts and ideas from the Spirit that put me over, and give me the advantage always. I’m made for life, and set up for honour, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
