AWAKEN TO RIGHTEOUSNESS AND SIN NOT
“Awake to righteousness, and sin not;” 1 Corinthians 15:34
You can live absolutely free from sin. You can live in total victory and mastery over sin.
You don’t have to struggle to live in holiness. You don’t have to fall and rise each day.
A song writer once erroneously said, ‘we fall down but we get up. For a saint is just a sinner who fell down but got up’
There’s nothing more erroneous than this statement.
A saint isn’t a sinner! A saint is righteous and even if he sins, he doesn’t become a sinner.
And we don’t have to fall down always. We can keep walking and not fall down.
Unfortunately many preach and sing their experiences not the word!
Paul declared in Romans 6:14, “For sin shall not have dominion over you; for ye are not under the law, but under grace.”
Sin should not have dominion over you. You can reign over sin. You can live in absolute victory over sin.
Let me state quickly that this isn’t possibly by human willpower. This isn’t possible by strong determination for by the arm of flesh shall no man prevail.
I’m sure you will agree with me that you’ve tried several times but failed in your own strength.
Gods provision for a life of victory over sin is His gift of righteousness.
“ Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:”
In Adam, all men sinned. But that’s not the complete story. God made provision for our sin through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. We are justified freely by the Grace of God. We are justified FREELY in Christ.
To be justified means to be declared not guilty. But that’s not enough. If you declare a sinner not guilty, he can go back into his sin.
That’s why in the previous verse, Paul declares that the righteousness of God has come unto and upon all who believe.
Once we believe the message of the Gospel, God imparts His own righteousness into our spirits. His Righteousness is his nature and character that produces rightness always.
We don’t act right to become righteous but we act right because we are righteous.
Many pay attention to doing right instead of the nature of righteousness.
They are trying to be right. Rather Paul says in our text for the day, “Awake to Righteous and sin not”.
Give attention to the nature of righteousness you have received. A revelation of righteousness is the end of the tyranny of sin!
Dear Father, I thank you for your nature of righteousness in my spirit that produces your rightness in all I do. Sin has no dominion over my life. I am conscious of my sinlessness, just as You are. My life is a manifestation of Your righteousness. Thank you Father, for I’m unblameable and irreprovable in your sight, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
